Ten children die every minute as a result of malnutrition, more than a quarter of children in developing countries are underweight and suffer disease because of their poor diet, and in some areas almost half of all under-fives are malnourished.
The target set at the 1996 World Food Summit was to halve the number of undernourished people by 2015 from their number in 1992. The number of undernourished people in developing countries was 824 million in 1992. In 2009, the number had climbed to 1.02 billion people.
Several organizations, such as UNICEF, are working to help developing countries. UNICEF provides food, immunization against several diseases, family water kit, education supplies and much more to these countries.
"UNICEF depends entirely on voluntary contributions. You can donate, or purchase UNICEF cards and gifts, or become a volunteer."
We must do something to change this situation. By helping Unicef, we can be a part of the change. VIsit www.supportunicef.org and start helping children!
